Nick the Hairdresser

The other day Nick and I went over to Chad and Erin's house so that the boys could play and Erin could help me make a tutu for Jill...which turned out really cute by the way. Brianna's hair was getting pretty crazy from all the playing and running around she was doing and since both Erin and I were busy with the tutu Nick took it like a champ and offered to help her with her "pretties". It was pretty much my favorite thing of the night. She sat so still for him, and he did an excellent job for his first experience doing a little girl's hair!

Guns and Hoses Game

This afternoon was the annual Guns and Hoses Football game. For those of you who don't know what that is all about, it's a football game where firemen (Dogs) play against policemen (Hogs). My brother in law Brian, a firemen, was in the game this year so we were really excited to go and watch him. He played really well and it was a lot of fun watching him play and being the loudest cheering section...twenty one strong. One of the best parts of the afternoon happened before the game when two heliocopters came down toward the field, one of the sheriff''s department and one of Sac Metro's. They were even using their lights and sirens. The kids loved it and I'm not going to lie so did the grown ups. Despite the cold and wind we all had a good time looking for and cheering on our favorite football player. Go Brian!

Santa...I know him!

On Saturday Nick and I went to see the annual Santa Parade in downtown Sacramento. Dad also had the same idea and brought Katie and her kids so we all got to enjoy the parade together. The parade was actually pretty fun. Nick was a little sad because there was only one marching band in the parade and they didn't even play anything when they passed us. However, there were plenty of policemen and firemen which Mason flashed his Junior officer badge every time they passed us. The officers loved it and I'm pretty sure Mason got extra candy from them. After the parade we went to see the huge Christmas tree they have in front of the Capitol. The ornaments are seriously the size of a small child's head...it was crazy. Then we all went out to lunch and then went our separate ways.. Nick and I still had some shopping to do. I think next year we will probably go again and hope that there some more music for Nick.

Best Show Ever....

Last week Jenny and I had the opportunity to go down to the new theatre in downtown Sacramento to see the show "Forever Plaid". It was doubly exciting because not only did I get to see a show with Jenny but my cousin Megan works at the theatre and so I got a chance to see and hang out with her as well. The show is INCREDIBLE. "Forever Plaid" is the story of The Plaids, a 1950s all-male singing group who return from the dead to play the gig they never got to when they were alive. The four guys in the play were amazingly goofy and really great singers. I even got serenaded by one of them during the play. Jenny and I both loved it and were really excited that we got to meet three out of the four guys after the show... I have the coolest cousin ever. After the play Megan, Jenny and I went out for dessert at the dessert diner and just had fun catching up a little. If you have a chance to and live in Sacramento I would definately recommend the play. It was such a fun night, I would love to go again and take Nicholas next time.

Christmas Tree!

Yesterday my family took our annual trip up to Apple Hill to cut down our Christmas tree. Since it's Nick and I's first Christmas together as a married couple we decided (well actually I decided) on a smaller tree. However, the trees at the farm are priced according to type rather than size so we opted out of buying one up there and decided to buy one when we got home instead. We had a lot of fun helping everyone else find their perfect tree and eating brunch at Sportsmen's Lodge. After brunch everyone headed back home, but Dad and Mom took us to the fudge factory to get a chocolate caramel apple. We ended our day finding a small, fat tree at a lot near our house and Nick put on the lights last night before I had to drop him off this morning at the airport for his work training in Minnesota. He'll be home on the eighteenth and I'll probably be spending a lot of time at my parent's house and the Langstraats eagerly awaiting his return. I hope everyone is having a great holiday so far.

1) Where did you meet? In the foyer of the Elk Grove stake center

2) What was the first thought that went through your head when you met? "So this is the guy that Janie has been taking about for months...huh..."

3) Do you remember what he was wearing? White shirt, tie and suit...

4) Where was the first time you kissed this person? In front of my house, next to his car

5) Where did you go on your first date? We went to the crazy corn maze in Dixon and tried to get lost in some corn stalks

6) How long did you know this person before you were a couple? A week...maybe...

7) How did he ask you out? I asked him out on our first date, but we became official over the phone

8) Has this person purposed to you? Yes

9) Do you and this person have have kids together? Not yet.

10) Have you ever broken the law with this person? Absolutely, we speed sometimes...among other things

11) When was the first time you knew you liked this person? When I realized that he was actually waiting for Me on the stairs at FHE the day after we met.

12) Do you get along with his family? Yes, but I don't really get the chance to see them that often

13) Do you trust this person? Absolutely.

14) Do you see him as your future partner? At this point he's pretty much stuck with me forever

15) What is the best gift he ever gave you? The thing that I use the most is my Volcom hoodie but I love when he gets me stupid stuff like a pepsi for dinner.

16) What is the one thing he does that gets on your nerves? It's a toss up between...no...I lied. I hate when he ignores me for any kind of reason.

17) Where do you see each other in 15 years from now? Fifteen years older with some kids playing the Wii

18) What causes the most arguments? I bug him a lot to the point where he gets a little irritated

19) How long have you been together? We've been married for nine months now

20) Are you married? Unless something happened that I don't know about :/

Merry Birthday?!

For our Christmas present, my parents sent all their kids and themselves on a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico. We left on a Wednesday and got home on a Monday afternoon. The ship didn't leave port until Friday, so we decided that we should probably go to Disneyland on Thursday, you know since we were in the area. Nick and I got spoiled and my parents actually bought our hopper tickets for our respective birthdays.

Nick and I absolutely loved Disneyland and California Adventure. The best part was of course being able to lead everyone into California Adventure and being able to ride the Tower of Terror before anyone else that day. We both hadn't been there in a long time so it was so amazing to get to go and be a kid again. The cruise was also a lot of fun as well as Mexico. In Mexico we got a chance to tour Ensenada and attend a fiesta complete with a pinata. I got a fake tattoo and learned a new county line dance on the boat and Nick got a chance to hang with the boys for awhile. Best part of the cruise of course was the food though. Who can hate on 24 hour soft serve? Oh, and also the actually food too. It was such a great vacation and we were so glad that we could spend it with my crazy family.
